Who We Help

Amazing what a group of like minded rock and rollers can do when they put their minds to it! Thanks to everyone who supports our dances.
Take a look below to see where your entry fees and raffle ticket sales go. It's a great feeling to be able to donate the proceeds to deserving organizations.

The Southern Peninsula Cancer Support Group

What a wonderful and truly humbling experience...

My first official duty as the new President of the Rosebud Rockers occurred today. On behalf of our club and all of the supporters of our Rock & Roll dances I was extremely privileged to present a cheque totaling $750 to the Southern Peninsula Cancer Support Group.
The Southern Peninsula Cancer Support Group is an incorporated and not for profit organisation accredited by the Cancer Council of Victoria. They extend their care from Portsea to Mornington and across to Flinders including Red Hill. Patients are referred to the group by their Doctor or Specialist, the treatment hospitals and by word of mouth from others who have been helped by the service. The group has not received grants or funding and does not spend its human and time resources on fundraising- a decision made from the very outset. This group provides free transport to and from hospitals and treatment facilities for cancer patients. A great organisation and well deserving of our assistance.

A big thanks to all that attend our dances and those that dig deep when we harass you to buy raffle tickets. Rest assured your money is going to a good cause.

Fusion

Rosebud Rockers donated the profits from a recent dance to Fusion. Fusion are a Mornington Peninsula based group that supports and assists homeless youth.

Below is a statement from Tim at Fusion.

'I'm very grateful that Mobile Mission Maintenance and others are coming next week to help us finish the upgrades to the young people's rooms at Fusion through the Sponsor a Room Project. Thanks to support from StreetSmart Australia, Message Media, The A&A trust, Rosebud Rockers and others. We are able to have the initial reno's done to the remaining 5 rooms. See the Pic for the results on room one!'

Penny - A Short Film

Set in the 1950s, Penny follows the story of Timmy (Jason Agius), a young cleaner at the Drive-In, in his quest to impress local dancer Penny (Steph Dunbar). Aided by his friend Donna (Jodi Eames), Timmy sets out to learn how to rock 'n' roll and win Penny’s heart. His attempts are threatened by local bully James (Jacob Fyfe) and meddling waitress Linda (Lara Jean Marshall of Saddle Club fame) – will Timmy win his girl?

Penny was produced as a ‘proof of concept’ short film in order to secure funding for a feature film. The filmmakers are hoping to attract interest from investors to launch pre-production of the feature film next year.

“Making Penny was absolutely a community project. We had local talent and extras, including students from Dromana High School, acting in the film. Our production team all live on the Peninsula. Many local businesses, including Vivien of Holloway Australia, Airstream Dreams, Rosebud Rockers and Peninsula Skateworld, also assisted by donating their products and time. We can’t wait to show them all what was achieved with their help,” Stanton said.
